FREE E-books!

by Nicole on July 21, 2009

I have to admit that while I am intrigued by the Kindle and the entire e-book revolution, I’m not quite there yet. I love my local library – I scout the books I want online and place them on hold as soon as they are released. They call me when they are available, I swing by during my lunch break and pick them up and then return them to the drop-box when I am ready. I have it down to a science!

I know many of you are probably loving your Kindles and other methods to read e-books and maybe someday I’ll be there!

Here are a few great FREE e-book resources for everyone!

FREE download of Heroic Measures by Jill Ciment. This is an Oprah pick and is available exclusively to members (it’s FREE to join) and only until 10:59 a.m. eastern on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 (tomorrow)

Barnes & Noble has launched its E-Reader that you can download for FREE onto your Iphone/Ipod Touch, Blackberry, or PC Mac. Along with the download comes 6 FREE e-books! They also have a section of ebooks under $5.

I downloaded the BN eReader application and the "free" books are all in the public domain. So if you have a Kindle you can already get those books free from the Kindle store.

I am right there with you on having the whole library thing "down to a science"! My public library does the same with DVDs. So you might have to wait several weeks to get that brand new movie, but they e-mail me when it's ready for me, I pick it up, and they even have self check-out, which is very quick and handy. They allow up to 15 requests per person at a time, so between me and my husband, I always have 30 books and DVDs on request!
