Update on Kmart Doubles Event

by Nicole on September 24, 2009

I was so excited this weekend when I learned there was going to be another Kmart Doubles event starting 9/27. I even emailed them and they emailed me back the list of the participating Florida stores which I promptly posted here on the site for you all to see. I also posted the guidelines they sent me. All was happy.

Until yesterday. I starting getting comments and emails from readers saying that the doubles event was for Proctor & Gamble (P&G) coupons only. I emailed Kmart customer service and received a response saying that the event was indeed for the P&G coupons only. My response was a little angry I think and I asked if they would honor the emailed guidelines they had sent me on Sunday which didn’t mention anything about P&G coupons.

They responded saying that they didn’t have the correct information when they emailed me but that only P&G coupons will be honored. I don’t quite understand how they didn’t have the correct information 7 days before the event.

I’ll admit – I’m not quite sure if Kmart is capable of pulling this off unless their computers are going to be programmed to only double P&G coupons, if that’s even possible. I wonder if their ad for this Sunday will say only P&G coupons. I guess we’ll have to wait until Sunday and see what happens.

I’ll keep you all updated as to what I am reading on the different boards and what happens when I go to my local Kmart store on Sunday to see exactly how the store is handling this issue.

When I emailed Kmart about the double coupon week I asked if any stores were participating in Tennessee and the lady said that they didn't have the locations yet even though I've seen a list for all the florida locations. This seems like ppp to me (p**s poor planning)

When I asked for the Ohio/WV list, I also just got the store list and a quick note saying they were doubling. When I emailed for specifics, I got the same P&G line. I'm waiting to see what happens. Hopefully they'll be doubling everything, but I'm not counting on it. They seem to be pretty disorganized. I appreciate the events, but consistency is key!

For a corporation that is hanging on by it's fingernails, you would think they would stop making us jump through hoops wouldn't you. As much as I love their double coupon deals, I find they jack their prices up, and don't carry some of the items with the highest coupon values during these events (even though they normally do). I also hate that they limit you to 20 coupons so you have to keep coming back in to use them. I live 15 miles from town for heavens sake! Come on K-Mart, wake up and smell the bacon!

I'm in Central FL and this is the line they gave me when I emailed them just now. Fast response, but I wasn't happy with the answer. I also called my local store and they said to watch for the Sunday paper's advertisment.

"Kmart is participating in ?Double Your P&G BrandSaver Coupons?. The event is running from 9/27/09 through 10/3/09 in select stores. All Procter and Gamble coupons that include the name ?Procter & Gamble? in the coupon disclosure are included. If this verbiage does not appear in the disclosure the coupon will be accepted at face value only. The limit is 10 double coupons, per day, per customer."

Okay, update on this. My Q's do say P&G – which is Pampers. I believe that Huggies are a different maunfactor, so anyone who has Pampers will get to double their Q's. Whooooo!
