FREE Tax Preparation

by Nicole on March 31, 2010

April 15th is soon approaching! If you haven’t done your 2009 Income Taxes yet this year, I wanted to make sure you knew about several FREE ways to prepare your taxes.  If you have a very complex tax situation, it’s best to consult a tax professional but for many people who are regular W-2 employees, it’s easy (and FREE) to do your own taxes.

Tax Act is completely FREE to users with  The software asks questions to guide you through the process to make it simple. It’s FREE to prepare and efile your taxes and Tax Act has complex forms available as well as the simple forms.  They also provide FREE tax guidance via email.

TurboTax - Do your taxes for Free
Turbo Tax – Turbo Tax is similar to Tax Act in that it provides FREE online software to prepare and efile your taxes.  You’ll need to pay for the state if you want to do your state taxes on here (yay for living in Florida with no state taxes!)

Name of Product: General Mills Big G Cereals Whole Grains Prize Pack (final)

Price of Product: around $3.99 but make sure to scout out coupons for additional savings!

Where can the product be purchased: at retailers nationwide

Description of Product: “Only whole grain gives you the vital nutrients from the complete grain. In addition to fiber, whole grain contains antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients important for a healthy diet. General Mills is the only leading cereal company to guarantee whole grain in every box.  Every day, General Mills´ Big G Cereals – which include Cheerios, Fiber One, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Chex, Total and Lucky Charms – deliver 35 million servings of whole grain to Americans. General Mills makes it easy to find whole grains, just look for the white check on the top of every Big G cereal box for your whole grain guarantee. In a national survey, 91 percent of Americans said they want to incorporate more whole grain foods into their diets. In fact, nine out of 10 people in the U.S. still do not eat the minimum recommended daily amount of whole grain (at least three servings, or 48 grams). Do you? Why not start keeping track of how many whole grains you eat to find out? We invite you to take the Whole Grain Awareness Challenge.  Visit www.WholeGrainNation.com to put your whole grain knowledge to the test.  In addition to sharing the good news about whole grain, we´re excited to announce some more great news for cereal lovers. Just last month General Mills announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single-digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.”

Review of Product: I received 2 FREE product coupons to try General Mills Big G Cereals and was happy to see my favorites among those I could choose from.  I love hearing about how manufacturers are trying to modify their foods to make them more healthy and include less sugar and more grains.  All of this news translates into great things for kids and I wholeheartedly support that! Big G Cereals come in many varieties and my favorite is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.  I love how versatile it is – I have it dry as a snack, with milk for breakfast and even use it in baking! I enjoyed the prize pack I received from General Mills, especially the breakfast chiller which lets you take your cereal and milk on the go and doesn’t let your cereal get soggy!

Giveaway: The folks over at General Mills and My Blog Spark have graciously offered a lucky Nicole’s Nickels reader the chance to get their own Grains of Goodness prize pack which includes 2 FREE product coupons, a breakfast chiller, a large cereal mug and a tote bag.
