Pet Adoption and Iams

by Nicole on October 26, 2010

As most of you know, I have 2 small dogs who are very much my family.  I did not grow up having any pets and always wanted a dog.  Once I was an adult, I decided to get 2 dogs who have so enriched my life.

I did not adopt the dogs for many reasons but know many people who adopted dogs from shelters and rescues.  These dogs have extra special stories and I love hearing how great their lives have become.  For whatever reason, people mistreat animals or breed animals when there is overpopulation and this leads to many animals going to shelters and rescues.  These animals are just waiting for their forever homes.  We have a section in our newspaper on Sundays that lists some of the dogs available for adoption at our l0cal shelter and it breaks my heart!

While in law school, I volunteered at a local small dog rescue and played with the dogs. They want and need love.  I never realized the unconditional love a dog gives until Chester and Cleo came into my lives.  If you’re considering getting a dog, please consider adoption.

I wrote this post for the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Blog Hop. For every blog post written about pet adoption this week, Iams will donate 100 bowls of food to shelters. I feel good knowing this blog post has given 100 bowls of feed to dogs in need!

Chester and Cleo are adorable. We adopted our dog from a Collie rescue group. He was two years old at the time. He is the sweetest dog. Glad you wrote this post and I’m glad Iams is donating food to shelters. We feed our dog and cats Iams.

bless all you bloggers!! our Atticus and Mollianna were both shelter/rescue dogs…we have had AKC pure breds and Heinz 57’s…we love the both…if people would just take the time and advantage of services to fix their lovely cats and dogs maybe those shelters wouldn’t be quite so crowded…

Rescue pets are the best! We’re all rescues here, of one kind or another. We did a post on IH4H too because we support what they are doing.
