BlogHer ’11 Recap

by Nicole on August 23, 2011

As I have written about a few times, I recently attended BlogHer ’11 in San Diego.  I had a great time and wanted to share some of my experiences!

I was sponsored by Bumble Bee Foods again this year as a member of the Bee Squad.  We shared a great welcome reception with Chef Scott from Hell’s Kitchen and an awesome breakfast at the Broken Yolk on Sunday morning.  They are such a great group of people and so supportive of bloggers.  I hope to continue to work with them!

One of the most exciting parts of BlogHer was that Karen from Koupon Karen, Keri Lyn from She Saved and I co-hosted a private party with flipflop Wines.  We were in charge of putting together swag bags and think we did a pretty good job on them! It took a lot of time and on Wednesday after we had 90 boxes of swag delivered to our rooms, we were definitely re-thinking the whole thing! Thanks to the help of a few friends (Thanks, Ashley and Christie!) we were able to get the bags stuffed on Wednesday night so we could enjoy the rest of the conference.

My favorite part was meeting people I have gotten to know well online – whether it be other bloggers, PR reps, etc.  The expo hall was fantastic – so much sharing with brands, trying out new products and just making great connections.  I hope to work with many brands I got to meet at the expo hall.  I attended a lot of events and parties and some of my favorites were from HTC (love my new Sensation 4G!), Wasa/Daisy Cottage Cheese, Swagbucks, Toca Boca, de Wafelbakker’s Pancakes, and Shop at Home, among others!

I also wanted to thank American Express for giving me info about their new prepaid card.  I was excited to use it while in San Diego and am loving using it even after.  They took us out for a fabulous dinner and I really enjoyed the conversation with Manisha Thakor.

I had never been to San Diego and while the long plane rides left a lot to be desired, the city was so nice and the weather was gorgeous! I wore a sweater most of the time and I am definitely really used to the south Florida heat and humidity.  It was nice to escape that for several days.  I’m excited that next year’s conference will be in New York City and can’t wait to attend!
