Bridesmaid Movie Girls Night In Party Recap

by Nicole on September 21, 2011

On Sunday I told you all about the fun Bridesmaid Girls Night In Party I was planning for Tuesday! I’m happy to report the party was a success, we all had a great time! The only party foul was my camera which has been acting up and I’ve been unable to pull the party pictures off of it to show you all.  Once I am able to get them I’ll update this post for sure!

I decorated the house using the hot pink and black decorations the folks at Universal Home had sent me.  The house looked so festive with streamers and balloons and we ate off the colored plates.  I even had my nails and toes done in hot pink to match! This was definitely an only girls party!

Video information: “Surpassing Sex and the City as the number one female comedy of all time, Bridesmaids starring “Saturday Night Live” standouts Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, is produced by comedy mastermind Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin) and marks his most successful film ever. Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding. In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to the big event.”

I made the Diet Orange Cream Soda adult drink I was planning using Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka and Diet Orange Crush and it was DELICIOUS.  Then we decided to try the whipped cream vodka in other drinks I had – the diet ginger ale and whipped cream vodka tasted like adult cream soda and we liked that one too.  It was a Tuesday night so everyone just drank a drink or two which was nice and low key.

I made Grandmom Annie’s sweet and sour meatballs (recipe posted here) and had some other nibbles on hand.  I also made a spicy artichoke dip that I make for Thanksgiving appetizer that went over really well.  Here is the recipe:

Spicy Artichoke Dip

3 cans chopped artichoke hearts
1 cup mayo
1 cup parmesan cheese
1 can diced green chiles
1 tbsp cumin
paprika for sprinkling
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp chopped pickled jalapenos
tortilla chips for serving

Combine artichokes, mayo, parmesan, cumin, green chiles, garlic and jalapenos.  Mix well.  Spread into 8×8 Pyrex and sprinkle with paprika.  Bake for 30 minutes at 350.  serve hot with tortilla chips.

It was nice to watch the movie at home so we could stop it, rewind and talk and LAUGH about it.  The scene in the bridal shop had us all laughing so hard we had to stop the movie.  There are definitely some crude parts in the movie but my friends and I aren’t prissy and we were cracking up!

After the movie everyone hung around for a little while and then had to leave since we all had work the next day and kids to kiss good night.  Everyone agreed they had a fun time and thanked Universal Home Entertainment!

This morning I took an informal email poll and everyone said they LOVED the movie and thought having a Girls Night In to show it was the perfect setting.  Everyone agreed that the bridal shop scene was their favorite and everyone liked the sister in law character the best out of all of them!

Bridesmaid is NOW available on DVD and Blu-Ray.  Pick up your copy today and host a Girls Night In viewing party tonight!  You can find more info on the Bridesmaids Facebook page!

I was given a complimentary copy of the Bridesmaids movie as well as a giftcard to get food and drink for the party and party decorations by Universal Home Entertainment.
