Bridesmaids Movie Girls Party!

by Nicole on September 18, 2011

I’m so excited to be hosting a Bridesmaids movie party this week! The movie debuts on DVD on September 20, 2011 and we’ll be partying at my house! How about hosting a party for the premiere at your party? It’s a fun excuse to get some girlfriends together, make some cocktails and snacks and settle in to watch this HILARIOUS movie!

Video information:  “Surpassing Sex and the City as the number one female comedy of all time, Bridesmaids starring “Saturday Night Live” standouts Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, is produced by comedy mastermind Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin) and marks his most successful film ever. Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding. In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to the big event.”

I wanted to do something low-key but fun during my screening party.  I saw the film in the theater but was excited to see it at home and share the experience with my girlfriends.  I decided to create a signature cocktail for the event and provide some healthy munchies for everyone since it seems we’re always watching what we eat.

I recently tried Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka and I am in love.  I decided to mix a Diet Orange Cream Soda with the whipped cream vodka, ice and diet orange Crush.  I am a Diet Orange Crush lover and knew this combo would be good.  I will also have some wine on hand for those non-vodka drinkers.  For snacks, I am making hummus and pita, shrimp, and meatballs.  I have a great meatball recipe that is super easy and tastes delicious!

Grandmom Annie’s Sweet and Sour Meatballs

3 lbs. ground meat (I’ll use turkey)
1 bottle Heinz chili sauce
1 packet beefy onion soup mix (powder only, strain out onions)
1 can Ocean Spray jellied cranberry
1 egg
Italian bread crumbs

In large pot, mix chili sauce, cranberry and onion soup mix.  Cook until sauce is made.  In bowl, mix meat, egg and bread crumbs.  Add salt and pepper.  Form into balls and drop into sauce.  Simmer for at least 1 hour or until cooked through.

I received a large box of black and hot pink decorations which will be really fun to use.  Having a Girls Night In is such an affordable and fun way to spend time with your friends! Throw in a super funny movie such as Bridesmaids and you’re all set as far as entertainment goes!

Make sure to check out the Bridesmaids Facebook page for more info!

I was given a complimentary copy of the Bridesmaids movie as well as a giftcard to get food and drink for the party and party decorations by Universal Home Entertainment.

I was lucky enough to catch the prescreening of this movie and it is by far the best movie I have seen in a long time. I laughed so hard I cried and that rarely happens for me during a movie so I am super excited for you to have this little get together:) Enjoy!
