American Express Prepaid Card Staycation & News!

by Nicole on November 7, 2011

I’m just back from my Staycation and on Cloud 9! I wanted to write this post while I was still at the resort but it just didn’t happen that way so I’m doing it as quickly as I could after I got home.

We had the most wonderful weekend on our Staycation at the ….you’ll have to read this post to catch my news!

The made this staycation super easy.  I just signed up for the card online and it came in a matter of days.  By the way, it’s completely FREE to sign up for and use the card – no sign up fees and no annual fees – love it!

I registered the card online in a few minutes.  I’ve added money to the card in all3 ways I was able:  by charging money on my other American Express card, by debiting it from my bank account and by purchasing a MoneyPak and adding the funds to the card.  All 3 ways are super easy.

I used the American Express Prepaid card just as I would have my other credit cards.  I paid in advance for our room online using the prepaid and then gave the hotel worker the card to have on file.  I used the prepaid separately for lunch since our room wasn’t quite ready and we had to wait for it without having a room number.  At the end of the staycation, the hotel simply charged the prepaid card.  The best part is that using the American Express prepaid card let me stay within my preset budget! No overspending ability with this card!

American Express is a name I trust with my finances and this prepaid card has showed me how versatile of a company they are! The prepaid card is a perfect budgeting tool and comes wit the peace of mind that American Express brings with its outstanding customer service.

Being the deal-seeker I am, I was able to score us an awesome room with a special package that gives us free parking, a waived resort fee, free breakfast and 25% off the spa.  So we got to the resort around lunchtime and had lunch at 501 East which was delicious.  The pitcher of white sangria we shared was perfect! Then we checked in and had a spa afternoon – massages and pedicures, total decadence! We then took a walk in the Cloister Garden and …..Jamie PROPOSED to me! Of course I said yes! We went to dinner and enjoyed our engagement! Here is our first picture as an engaged couple:

The next morning we had a beautiful brunch and then went to our parents’ houses to show off my new ring! This was honestly one of the best weekends of my life – thanks to the American Express prepaid card! This is just the beginning of my American Express prepaid card use – I plan to start using it to budget my monthly grocery shopping – because you only put a set amount on the card it controls your spending plus you can use it anywhere American Express is accepted.

American Express gave me money to put on the card so I could blog about my experience on my staycation. My opinions remain my own.
