There’s a Groupon going on right now for the movie “Girl in Progress” starring Eva Mendes as a mom struggling to balance work, love and her teenage daughter. Pay just $12 for movie admission for two (up to a $30 value)! These would make a lovely gift – even for yourself!
From Patricia Riggen, the critically acclaimed director of Under the Same Moon and Lemonade Mouth, comes Girl in Progress, a coming-of-age tale with a twist. Eva Mendes stars as Grace, a single mother struggling to strike a balance between work, love, and her teenage daughter, Ansiedad, played by Cierra Ramirez from The Secret Life of the American Teenager. As it becomes clear that Grace has never emotionally matured beyond the level of a teenager, her teenage daughter strives to prematurely elevate herself to the level of an adult after becoming inspired by the coming-of-age stories in her English class. This flip-flop of roles causes tension between the mother and daughter, leading to missteps, impassioned arguments, and heated uses of the pronoun she. Both Grace and Ansiedad eventually realize, however, that maturity isn’t about embracing a nebulous concept of adulthood—it’s about acting your age.
Limit 1 Groupon per person. The Hollywood Movie Money certificate is valid for two adult admissions (up to $30.00 total) to see Girl In Progress, at any showing, including those designated as “no coupons, no passes” in local theater listing guide. Redemption Code is valid through June 22, 2012. Certificate expires June 22, 2012 or when Girl In Progress is no longer in theaters, whichever comes first.
