This is a recipe I got from the Aldi website! It is so fall oriented and was very comforting! I love German food so this was perfect for me. You can buy all of the ingredients at any grocery store though the Aldi site references the Aldi products of course.
Ingredients
- 8 oz. Spaetzle
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 apple, cored, peeled and diced
- salt
- pepper
- 16 oz. smoked bratwurst, sliced
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 2 cups sauerkraut
- 6 slices swiss cheese, chopped
- cooking spray
- 4 tbsp. unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Boil spaetzle for 10-12 minutes
- Saute bacon until crisp. Remove from pan and chop.
- In bacon drippings, saute the onion and apple and salt and pepper for 5 minutes.
- Add sliced bratwurst and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Lower heat and add cream cheese and bacon to pan.
- Stir until cream cheese is blended.
- Remove from heat and add sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and spaetzle.
- Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray and add mixture.
- Top with pats of butter.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
