National Sandwich Day!

While the sandwich is a staple food for people every day of the year, November 3rd shines more light on this lunchtime favorite by giving it its own holiday!  National Sandwich Day is a day to take a bite out of iconic, nostalgic and of course DELICIOUS sandwich recipes!  From the classic Club sandwich to the infamous multilayered Dagwood sandwich, it is no secret that people love to enjoy a variety of tasty and creative sandwiches.

In honor of the day, Sara Lee Deli provided the recipe for Philly Cheese Steak.  Enjoy!

 

Philly Cheese Steak!

Philly Cheese Steak!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1/4 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 6 slices Sara Lee® Deli Roast Beef
  • 1 submarine roll or hoagie roll
  • 2 slices provolone cheese, sliced

Instructions

  1. Sauté onion and bell pepper in butter in medium saucepan over medium-high heat until onion is transparent.
  2. Mix in roast beef; heat until beef is warm.
  3. Fill roll with beef mixture.
  4. Top sandwich evenly with cheese.

That’s cool, I didn’t know it was National Sandwich Day!, my fave is a salami sandwich with extra lettuce.

Thanks for the recipe! I did not know that it was National Sandwich today, but I did eat a sandwich for lunch. :)

I didn’t realize it was National Sandwich Day either! I will have to let my husband know, it will probably become one his favorite holidays! By the way, the Philly Cheese Steak looks delicious!
