Nicole’s Recipe: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

by Nicole on November 12, 2012

I grew up eating these sweet and sour meatballs – my grandmother and my mother would both make them.  They are my brother’s favorite meal and even now my mother knows it’s a surefire way to get my brother to come over for dinner! The recipe is an easy one and I use ground turkey most of the time, I find it makes the meatballs more tender!

Nicole’s Recipe: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

  • 3 lbs ground turkey (or ground beef)
  • 1 can jellied cranberry
  • 1 packet beefy onion soup mix
  • 1 bottle chili sauce
  • 1 egg
  • Italian Bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper

  1. In mixing bowl mix ground meat, salt, pepper, beaten egg and bread crumb.
  2. In large pot mix jellied cranberry, chili sauce, and onion soup mix. Stir until all ingredients combine and start to boil.
  3. Form meatballs and add into mixture. Put top on and simmer for at least 90 minutes or until meatballs are tender and sauce is thick.
