12/18 Pinterest Pin of the Week: Vanilla Ice!

by Pennie on December 18, 2012

This week’s pin comes to us from Oh My Veggies.  Kiersten suggests that this is a good addition to summer drinks, but I can’t help picturing it in some winter drinks as well.

Having grown up in the heat, I do drink iced drinks year round.  But once in a while I love a good cup of tea (I’m not a coffee drinker).  Yet I don’t like hot, hot tea.  I prefer more of a tepid beverage.  So this ice really appeals to me, because not only will it add taste, but it will bring down the temp of a hot liquid as well.

Of course the first thing I picture with this is Chai Tea (hot or cold), because the ingredients (almond or cocoanut milk and vanilla) would enhance the flavor that is already there.  I would also try in plain black tea, because I put milk in my hot tea anyway.

But what catches my fancy is trying it in mulled cider!  Hot cider is one of those drinks that always seems to be way too hot.  I’d love to float one of these in there to cool it down and add the creaminess of a little milk.  Doesn’t that sound yummy?  And how about adding one to hot chocolate?  A perfect combo in my opinion!

If you are as taken by these as I am, try them out and let me know how you use them.  I just feel that there are more ways that I haven’t thought of yet!

And one last thing: “Ice, Ice, Baby” (I couldn’t resist)!

This sounds decadent – love the idea and hope to try one day in January when the hustle of the holiday is behind me.

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading! :-)

I’d think that vanilla ice would be nice to have in a coke, or some of the other soft drinks out there, to give them a hint of vanilla cream flavor. I’d also use it in smoothies, instead of plain ice so that flavor won’t be lost by the addition of all that ice.
