A Few Shortcuts Weekly Recipe: Crock Pot Black-Eyed Peas

by Pennie on January 4, 2013

This week’s recipe from Amanda at A Few Short Cuts is a southern favorite prepared with a twist!   These Crock Pot Black-Eyed Peas are pretty straight forward.  They are just cooked in a crock pot!  I’ll be trying these this weekend because my New Year’s Day was postponed (I’ll explain in another post)!  I’ll just add some chopped onions.

Each week I will highlight one of Amanda’s fabulous recipes. If you don’t have the ingredients or they’re not on sale near you, you could easily print and save the recipes for later use!

Everybody in the pot and put the lid on. Don’t open in again for about 8 hours. Every time you lift the lid when you are cooking with a crockpot you increase the cooking time by 20 minutes. Really…it’s true! ( I never knew this!)

Adding onions sounds like a good thing for this recipe. I’ve never thought of black eyed peas cooked in a crock pot.

I haven’t had black eyed peas in years! This recipe sounds really simple. I think I will add the onions, also. Thanks for sharing.
