In celebration of American Heart Month, Mazola oil has created some delicious recipes to share with you. This one looks so good, I bought the ingredients and I’ll be making it tomorrow!
Not only is corn oil versatile (it’s best when used in heated applications, like baking, sauteing and stir frying) it also contains plant sterols. Studies indicate, when consumed as part of a diet in low saturated fat and cholesterol, plant sterols can help reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the gut, which can lower LDL cholesterol. In facr, corn oil has four times as many plant sterols as olive oil and 40 percent more than canola oil, making it a great addition to a heart-healthy meal!
Mazola has been in business for over 100 years! It has been a staple in my home since I was a kid. One of the best things about corn oil is its high heat point. You can cook at a higher temperature than most other oils. And when you cook at higher temperatures, your food absorbs less of the cooking oil. I’ve used Mazola in baking, broiling, grilling and frying and I like its nice fresh taste. It’s good to know that it is also good for my heart.
