The Great American Sandwich is a wonderful invention. It’s portable, you can fill it with whatever you like and when you are done, well there is nothing to dispose. My only issue is the bread. It’s not a carb thing, or a corn syrup thing or even a crust thing (which I will admit I really don’t care for). It’s just too much bread, too filling up on bread. Day after day after day. I love bread when it’s about the bread, but generally sandwiches are about the filling. That’s why I LOVE lettuce wraps!
This week’s recipe from Amanda at A Few Short Cuts is: Asian Chicken Salad Lettuce Wrap. Lettuce wraps can be used in many scenarios, but Asian dishes have to be the original and the best. Amanda’s Chicken Salad is quick and easy, so you can make it in a snap and the kids can be eating before the first whine emerges from their lips! Because of the teriyaki sauce, there is just enough sophistication for adult palates as well.
And like the Great American Sandwich, it is portable, you can fill it with whatever you like and when you are done, well there is nothing to dispose (in my case – not even the crust)!
Each week I will highlight one of Amanda’s fabulous recipes. If you don’t have the ingredients or they’re not on sale near you, you could easily print and save the recipes for later use!
