Be Seen By a Doctor Online at

by Nicole on May 1, 2013

I think that MeMD is the news of the future! How convenient to be able to consult with a doctor via webcam from the comfort of your own home and have them even prescribe you the medicine you need!

MeMD offers personalized treatment via an online medical provider consultation from any location and in some states 24/7. After a video consult with a board-certified physician, an e-prescription can be submitted to your local pharmacy so you or your family member can be on the road to recovery immediately.

Imagine not having to wait days for an appointment with your Primary Care Physician, or hours in a germ-filled waiting room at Urgent Care. MeMD can help you or your loved one better and back to your life faster.

MeMD is ideal for parents:
•Save time and money by visiting a doctor from the comfort of your own home
•Perfect for common ailments that kids get from school or camps, for example: pink eye, ear infections, bites, stings, rashes and allergies.
•No waiting in a germ filled doctor’s office and potentially expose yourself and your entire family to unwanted viruses
•No Insurance, NO problem! High Insurance Deductible, NO problem! MeMD is very affordable and is typically less than your average co-pay. You can use your HSA, HRA or FSA account, as well.
•Travel with confidence. If one of your family members needs to see a physician, MeMD is available whenever, wherever.
• Fast access to a physician. With minimal wait time and no travel time, MeMD helps you to fast track recovery, so children can get back to school, and you can get back to work!

My father in law had a bad cold and cough and so I asked him to try out the service.  He told me that registration was super fast and within a few minutes he was chatting with a doctor on the webcam.  A consult is priced at just $44.95 which is so reasonable.  The doctors treat a variety of illnesses (nothing really crazy and please for an emergency go to the hospital!) and can prescribe a variety of medicine.  My father in law was given a cough medicine and was advised what over the counter medicines he should be taking.  It gave him peace of mind that he had been seen by a doctor and he did it when it was convenient for him with no waiting! A win win!

I received a consultation to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

I imagine this is how many people will have to be seen by a doctor in the future, but I wonder if insurance will pay for it.
