A Few Shortcuts Weekly Recipe: Easy Homemade Ketchup

by Pennie on July 5, 2013

This week  Amanda at A Few Shortcuts gives us another homemade version of a normally store-bought item: Easy Homemade Ketchup!

I’m not sure if I will run right to the kitchen because, for me, ketchup only goes with 2 foods…french fries and meatloaf.  Neither of which I have very often, so I can keep a bottle of ketchup for a pretty long time.  I know a lot of you are going to give me pushback on the items on which I think ketchup can go, but that is why I prefaced the statement with: “for me”.

The recipe does look good, it has a little something sweet, a little something tart and just a light touch of spices.  And, as Amanda points out, it’s good to have something without all the chemical preservatives.  So if your family is a big ketchup consumer and you like to know and control what goes into their red condiment, give it a try!  If you do, please let us know what you think.

Each week I will highlight one of Amanda’s fabulous recipes. If you don’t have the ingredients or they’re not on sale near you, you could easily print and save the recipes for later use!

This is great to try out since I haven’t found a good deal on ketchup lately and we’re running low!

Love this idea to save money and you can make it as spicy or sweet as you like. I like it extra spicy!

Wow – I like to pride myself on being a do-it-myself-er, but I never thought of making ketchup! I can’t wait to try this, to make hot dogs and hamburgs special. Yippee!
