A Few Shortcuts Weekly Recipe: How to Make Brown Sugar

by Pennie on August 23, 2013

Ever wander into the kitchen to make, say, chocolate chip cookies, and realize you have everything except brown sugar or your brown sugar has transmogrified into a nice smelling brick?  (This has happened to me more than once).  Well thanks to Amanda at A Few Shortcuts, never again!

With 2 simple ingredients Amanda will teach you How to Make Brown Sugar.  I never really thought about how brown sugar was made, but now that she has laid it out for me, it is pretty straight forward!  How wonderful it will be to have light, fluffy brown sugar, instead of the chips that I manage to crack off my brown sugar brick!

Each week I will highlight one of Amanda’s fabulous recipes. If you don’t have the ingredients or they’re not on sale near you, you could easily print and save the recipes for later use!

Thank you for sharing this with us. My daughter is the baker in the family and is always using brown sugar. She said she could really use this.

I need to cut down own my sugar, but knowing that I can make brown sugar when I need it for baking saves me a trip especially during holidays when it is all out because everyone wants to bake during that time.

I need to get started on this for holiday baking in a few months. I have never attempted it but will try it this year.
