09/10 Pinterest Pin(s) of the Week: Crockpot Recipes

by Pennie on September 10, 2013

It seems like crockpot use is on the rise again.  As I was sifting through Pinterest, I saw recipe after recipe that was made in a crockpot.  It seems on fair that I share the ones I found interesting with you!

Jennifer from I Save A 2 Z has this Super Easy Chicken Crockpot Recipe.  This looks yummy, is kind of Mexican which I really like, and you can use frozen chicken breasts.  So when Jennifer says Super Easy, I believe her!

I am very fond of this soup at the Olive Garden so when I saw Sweet Treat Eats had their own version of the Pasta E Fagioli Soup, I knew I had to include it!  There is a little prep work, but if it tastes like the real thing, then it is totally worth it.

Now this one is pretty interesting because it’s a complete dinner all done in a crockpot. Stephanie O’Dea from a Year of Slow Cooking created a Crockpot Layered Dinner – Steak, Potatoes and Corn on the Cob.  All these items were cooked together in the same pot!LayeredDinner

Of course I have to include a BBQ recipe, but I thought I’d try something different.  This is Brisket Barbecue from Shae at Hello HomeBody.  I really like brisket but I’ve never made it myself.  With this recipe, I think I’ll give it a try!

I would never think of making oatmeal in a crockpot.  But when you start talking about steel-cut oats then you are talking about a whole new level of oatmeal.  If you haven’t had them, you should try them at least once, they are so much better than regular oatmeal.  But like brown rice versus white rice, steel-cut takes longer to cook.  Being able to put them in the crockpot overnight really makes steel-cut a viable breakfast choice.  From Jinxy Knows Best here is Easy Steel-Cut Oatmeal Overnight Crockpot Recipe.

These last recipes all come from The Crockin’ Girls, Jenna Marwitz and Nicole Sparks.  They have lots of great recipes on their site and even have a couple of cookbooks!

First up is Loaded Baked Potato Soup.  I love a good potato soup, it’s filling and yummy, yet simple.

Next is Chocolate Lava Cake.  You have to brown the meat but you use uncooked noodles so that is a good trade off.  And this has fresh baby spinach!

You have to have a good roast recipe for the crockpot and Chocolate Lava Cake sounds quirky and good!

Let’s finish up on a dessert note.  A yummy chocolate dessert note.  Here is the amazing looking Chocolate Lava Cake!

I’m glad I ate before I checked out Pinterest today or else I’d still be looking at recipes!

I don’t even have a crockpot, but that Olive Garden soup recipe looks great!

There are so many interesting crockpot recipes out there. I would love to use mine more. I’ve only made soup twice in it – and the same kind of soup.
