Choose Berries Over Bugs in your Food

by Nicole on November 5, 2013

I have become way more aware of the food I am putting into my body since getting pregnant.  I want to give my babies only the best! I was horrified to learn that some brands use crushed up bugs to create a red color in their foods.  Recently Starbucks changed this practice after a petition circulated urging them to stop this gross practice.  I’m happy to report that it worked!

So now there is a new petition to urge Dannon to stop using the crushed bugs (carmine on labels) in 13 of their fruit flavored yogurts.  I signed the petition and thought that you all would be interested in this information.  Adding these bugs for color is deceptive and disgusting and can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people.  I love Dannon and Dannon products and want them to stop this practice so I can continue with a good conscience to buy their delicious products for my family.

Take a minute and read the petition.  It’s super easy to sign.  Let’s tell Dannon that we love their products but don’t love them adding this gross ingredient to our food!
