Of course, everything didn’t get purchased or made or cooked but Christmas came anyway. I was up until 2:30am on Christmas Eve and my daughter and son-in-law were up until 3:30. Luckily the kids didn’t get up early on Christmas morning. I slept until almost 9!
My grandson saw all the packages under the tree, but calmly passed them by until he went through his morning ritual. My granddaughter was just happy with all the shiny wrapping paper!
We had breakfast and finally, we started to open presents. Everyone got things that they loved and were excited about. My grandson had to inspect everyone of his sister’s toys before she was allowed to play with them. My granddaughter laughed at her brother’s antics and then tried to consume the shiny wrapping paper.
After too many presents from parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and too many opening-present cookies, we took a break for some dinner. Then we went downstairs to see what was in our stockings and found our gifts from Santa! It was very, very exciting. A new bike for the little man and a ride-on toy for the little woman. New shoes for me and my daughter and this for my son-in-law:
He’s a big cheese fan, so only a vat of cheese will do! We had a Merry Christmas, and I hope you did too!
