My overall favorite color is red. Deep red, passionate red, but red isn’t really a spring color. But my second favorite color is and that is periwinkle blue. I like that it hints at blue and purple and grey without being any of them. And it reminds me of the huge hydrangea bushes that were outside my grandfather’s house when I was a kid. His house was only one story high but this periwinkle blooming bushes were as high as the roof and as wide as a room. I loved those bushes. So let’s explore some periwinkle today via Pinterest.
First up, some hydrangea blossoms (especially the one in the bell jar) from Kazuko Takasu on flickr.com are so reminiscent of the color and flower style of the bushes in my grandfathers yards. This image brings back wonderful spring and summer memories.
From YourDailyJewels on Etsy.com these Periwinkle Blue Earrings, Lavender Czech Crystal with CZ Earwires are unfortunately sold out but oh, so, lovely. The shade is just perfect.
From Robin Lucile Anderson at Fluer – Flower – Flor is this periwinkle Clematis. All tucked in that dark greenery and against the weather fence it is almost unreal.
I don’t usually imagine periwinkle in a kitchen, but I think in the right cottage kitchen it would work. If someone knows the source on this please pass it along so I can acknowledge, because I think it is brilliant!
Apparently this next image originated on baenk.com, but I can’t find it on there now. Not sure if they swap our their image every so often. What I like here is the touch of periwinkle in with the blues and grays and beiges. And wouldn’t it be nice to happen on to such a lovely little street.
Another unidentified image, sigh, but beautiful. Love the color, love the composition; the clouds seem so thick you’re sure you could dive into them and they would hold you up!
This is a great twilight image from galixies.tumblr.com. It’s a time a day that creates beautiful colors.
Of course there is an actual periwinkle plant! Captured on Photos by Senior Hiker.
And just so you’ll have something lovely to wear, here is a gorgeous periwinkle sheath dress from FarFetch. Isn’t it wonderful?
I really do love this color. I’m glad I was able to find so much of it on Pinterest. What is your favorite color?
