Dyson DC31 Animal Handheld Vacuum Review

by nicolesnickels on March 10, 2010

Name of Product: Dyson DC31 Animal Handheld VacuumDC31_Animal

Price of Product: $269.99

Where can the product be purchased: online at Amazon and at retailers nationwide

Description of Product:Dyson DC31 Animal is a handheld vacuum with a motorized brush bar, designed for homes with pets. Ideal for quick pick-ups and spot cleaning. It also has dual power mode that gives longer run-time for large jobs or extra suction for stubborn dirt. Powered by the new Dyson digital motor – three times faster, the most power efficient.  Dyson’s latest handheld is powered by the Dyson digital motor, DDM – the fastest, most power-efficient motor ever developed for a handheld vacuum. Spinning up to 104,000rpm, DDM is five times faster than a Formula 1 race car engine. You get more power, longer. It just works.
Like all Dyson vacuums, DC31 uses patented Root Cyclone™ technology to separate dirt, fine dust and debris from the air. So,
it doesn’t lose suction as proven by the internationally recognized IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard.  For tough pet hair, DC31 Animal’s motorized brush bar has been redesigned to swivel for better contact. Even the peskiest animal hair has met its match.”

Review of Product: I have 2 dogs as many of you know and while they are of the “non-shedding” variety, they do lose hair just like you and me! I was looking for a handheld vacuum to pick up the hair that wasn’t easy to vacuum up with a traditional vacuum.  I was excited to get this Dyson DC 31! It was ready to use in minutes and I love the 2 year warranty that the product comes with.  Long warranties equal good companies to me! The motor is super strong and it sucked up dirt and hair effortlessly.  The handheld comes with an extension hose, wide nozzle tool, a stubborn dirt brush, and a soft dusting brush.  The attachments are really useful and there wasn’t any place I wasn’t able to clean up with the Dyson.  The Dyson DC31 is bagless and comes with a washable filter.  This vacuum is expensive but worth the money in my opinion as it is so well-made and comes with that nice warranty.  If you have high traffic areas and/or pets, this Dyson DC31 does the job!

I received this product to review at no charge but my opinions remain my own.

Rembrandt & Reach Review & Giveaway

by nicolesnickels on March 9, 2010

Name of Product: Rembrandt 2 Hour Whitening Kit, Rembrandt Whitening Strips, and Reach design Toothbrush 31pBoMotvxL__SL500_AA300_

Price of Product: $24.99 for the 2 hour kit, $24.99 for the strips, and $2.99-$3.99 for the toothbrush

Where can the product be purchased: at retailers nationwide

Description of Product: “The 2 hour Whitening Kit contains a proprietary BIO-AVAILABLE® peroxide that starts working immediately on contact. COMFYTRAY™ applicators mold under hot water to form to teeth and make for an easy and comfortable application. The Whitening strips are a once daily treatment applied for 30 minutes that visibly whitens in just five days. Strips conform to the unique shape of teeth and stay in place with enhanced FORMFIT™ Technology. The Reach by design Toothbrush is a new limited edition brush that is perfect to lighten up your bathroom or for your travel kit. Flowers and stripes update the Ultraclean brush for a festive, cheerful smile.”

Review of Product:  I was totally enamored with the toothbrush – I love the Reacgh UltraClean and to have it so whimsical with bright hawaiian-like flowers on it was so cute! Why have a boring toothbrush, right? Seriously, though, this was always my favorite toothbrush and now it’s even better! I tried both the 2 hour whitening kit as well as the strips and was happy with the results for both.  I suffer from tooth sensitivity and found my teeth to be slightly more sensitive after using the whitening products which they say is possible in the instructions.  With the strips, you are supposed to use them for 30 minutes per day for 7 days and the box comes with lower strips and upper strips to use.  The 2 hour whitening kit is 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off  4 times for a total of 2 hours.  This was good to do on a weekend for me when I have that kind of time and can sit and blog with the trays in my mouth! I did notice my teeth were whiter and for an at home whitener I thought they did a pretty good job.

Giveaway: The folks over at Rembrandt and Reach have graciously offered to give three (3) of my readers their own prize pack each containing Intense Stain toothpaste, Rembrandt Whitening Kit, Rembrandt 2 Hour Kit, and a Reach toothbrush – each an over $50 value!

(seed)+ Personal Care Products Review & Giveaway

by nicolesnickels on March 8, 2010

Name of Product: (seed)+ Personal Care Products:  Nourishing Body Lotion, Moisturizing Body Soap & Conditioning Hair Shampoo Barimage001

Price of Product: $ 19.62 for the body lotion, $19.85 for the soap and $19.85 for the shampoo bar

Where can the product be purchased: online from Amazon and Whole Foods stores

Description of Product: “Powerfully Beneficial, Elegant and Pampering, our All-Natural SEED+ line of personal care offers soothing lotions, moisturizing soaps, and unique shampoo bars enriched with nutrient-rich grape seeds. Our natural products are high quality, and with a set of our Nourishing Body Lotion, Moisturizing Body Soap, and Conditioning Hair Shampoo bar costing less than $20, it is a Healthy Beauty gift that fits every budget.  And SEED+ is powerful seed-based body care for both men and women, so you can share. We aspire to improve people’s lives with innovative, thoughtful, 100% naturally effective personal care products that promote healthy skin. Our packaging is beautiful, recyclable and/or biodegradable, and all products and packaging are made here in the United States. SEED+ is owned by Graine de Vie, which integrates healthy living and sustainability into all of our products. SEED is brand new!”

Review of Product:   I was intrigued by these products and their 100% natural claims using the grapeseed.  I received samples from the invigorating citrus line and was happy to find the scents delightful and not at all overpowering.  The lotion was smooth and did not leave a greasy residue.  The body soap was hearty and while I am not a user of bar soap generally (I prefer body wash) I found the soap to be not cumbersome and refreshing.  The shampoo bar was the hardest for me to get used to though I think it is a great product especially for a man or someone with short hair.  It was tough with my longer hair and I think mentally I am so used to pouring shampoo from a bottle! I really enjoyed this line and love that it has no preservatives or artificial colors in it.

Giveaway: The kind folks over at (seed)+  have graciously decided to give one (1) of my readers the same set of 3 products I received (lotion, siap and shampoo bar) – a value of $60!

Juno Baby DVD Review

by nicolesnickels on March 3, 2010

Name of Product: Juno Baby DVD:  Juno’s Rhythm Adventure  dvds_jra_lg

Price of Product: $20.99

Where can the product be purchased: online at http://www.junobaby.com

Description of Product:Juno Baby is our passion project. All of our products are based on our lifelong love of music and our belief in its power to open hearts and minds. We firmly believe that by surrounding young children with beautiful music, we can engage their minds, inspire them artistically, and nurture them emotionally. During this journey, we have collaborated with top researchers, artists, and musicians to create an award-winning line of products. Our CDs, books, and DVDs feature a cast of lovable characters that interact with your child, along with original music composed for and performed by live orchestral musicians. We are excited to be able to share our passion with you. Integral to our success as a company is our mission to give the gift of music to young children everywhere. That’s why we launched the Juno Baby One For All Program. For every Juno Baby DVD, CD or book purchased by you, Juno Baby donates a like product to a child who otherwise cannot afford to purchase one. We believe so strongly that beautiful music enriches life that we have partnered with social service agencies and children’s organizations around the globe to help us bring beautiful, orchestral music to all children. So remember: Every time a Juno Baby song or story lights up your child’s face, because of you, it is doing the same for a child less fortunate than yours. Our goal is to give away 1 million DVDs, CDs and books in 2010.”

Review of Product: I received the Juno Baby:  Juno’s Rhythm Adventure DVD to try out.  It is a 45 minute DVD geared towards ages 1-4 which is a broad range.  Every child will get something different out of the DVD according to his/her level at the time.  The characters are colorful and it is mesmerizing for children.  The content is educational and you don’t need to worry about language or innuendo the way some TV programs are nowadays.  The Baby One For All Program (as described in the paragraph before this) is a phenomenal way for a company like this to give back and help kids whose parents are not able to afford such educational DVDs.  I admire companies that try to give back as Juno Baby does.

I received a sample of this product to review at no charge but my opinions remain my own.

Bob Evans “Fit From the Farm” Review & Giveaway

by nicolesnickels on March 1, 2010

Name of Product: Bob Evans “Fit From the Farm” Menu Apple-Cranberry-Spinach-Salad-150x150

Price of Product: from $3.49

Where can the product be purchased:  at Bob Evans Restaurants nationwide

Description of Product: “Bob Evans is ringing in the new year with a brand new Fit from the Farm menu, starting Jan. 7, which has breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to fit any lifestyle. All Fit from the Farm options list the calories, fat, saturated fat and sodium levels for each item. “Without compromising homestyle tastes, this new menu provides plenty of options for our guests. Balanced eating is an everyday part of life,” said Mary Cusick, Bob Evans senior vice president of marketing. “All the nutritional details are listed directly on the menu.”Based on an average 2,000 calorie daily allowance, all Fit from the Farm dishes have: 650 calories or less, 750mg or less sodium, 35 percent or less total calories from fat, Less than 10 percent of total calories from saturated fats (or 1/3 or less of the recommended Daily value for saturated fat), 0g trans fat, and No MSG.  “Guests who are following a 2,000 calorie daily diet could eat three meals a day off of the Bob Evans new Fit from the Farm menu and stay within those guidelines,” said Cusick”

Review of Product: Like many of you, I think breakfast when I think of Bob Evans, but they also serve lunch and dinner.  I went to Bob Evans for lunch to try out their new Fit From the Farm menu and was really happy with what I ordered.  The menu has offerings for all 3 meals and is geared towards people trying tstart or maintain a healthy lifestyle.   I had the apple cranberry spinach salad (picturd above) and it was so flavorful which is hard to come by when ordering off a healthier menu.  The ingredients were fresh and the combination was delicious.  My companion had the soup and side and chose the farm festival bean soup with the plan baked potato.  Neither item lacked flavor and the portion sizes were ample.  I would happily order from the Fit From the Farm menu again!

Giveaway: The people from Bob Evans have graciously decided to give one (1) of my readers a Fit for 2010 Prize Pack ($20 Bob Evams gift card, free kids meal coupon, $2 off $10, pedometer, water bottle and jump rope)
