Review of Product: I don’t think I have ever mentioned what I did in my past professional life but it’s relevant to this post so here goes. I used to teach middle school Spanish and majored in German and Spanish in college. Languages come easy to me but I am keenly aware that it’s not like this for everyone. Rosetta Stone’s new TOTALe program is mostly online but you use a headphone with attached microphone to practice pronunciation and are even able to have sessions with native speakers of the language you choose!
I chose the Russian because I took 2 years of it in high school but barely remember any of it! I loved being able to work at my own place and withoupressure of being in a class setting. I went through the lessons and then the vocabulary and the grammar for each lesson. After you master a unit, you’re able to move to the studio where you can practice with a native-speaking studio coach and then to Rosetta World where you play games and practice speaking with other learners and native speakers in their online community. There are also accompanying CD’s that you can use to practice while in the car. I know TOTALe is on the pricey side it was so comprehensive and the speaking component really is critical to learning a language properly.
